I-Plates get thumbs up from consumer champions and award judges

It's easy to see why the I-Plate has caught the eye of Which? Computing and this year's IET Innovation Awards when broadband users are saying "This is quite simply a sensational product"; "It's right up there with the best purchases I have ever made"; "Wicked. It's tripled my speed in less than a week" and "Brilliant! It's so easy to fit and has made a massive difference".

The November 2009 edition of Which?'s specialist IT review reports on the results experienced by broadband users when they put I-Plates to the test at home. It said: "It's worth trying. One Sky broadband customer didn't achieve any difference in speed but our AOL customer achieved a 10 per cent increase in speed and noticed a more consistent connection."

And this month BT Wholesale's I-Plate is also a finalist in the IET Innovation Awards 2009: a programme that celebrates the products, technologies and processes that lead the way in engineering, scientific and technological innovation. The winners are due to be announced on 25 November.

Emma Elshof, BT Wholesale's General Manager of Broadband Products, comments: "These accolades from two leading organisations reinforce the real difference this simple device can make to many end users' broadband services. We would really encourage all wholesale customers to consider the positive impact I-Plates could make to their end users' broadband service as well as the knock-on efficiencies in their own organisations."

Launched last year, I-Plate is a patented innovation that's designed to filter out the electrical interference caused by televisions, lighting, electrical wiring and phone extension cables that can often slow down broadband speed and affect the stability of the connection*. But by simply fitting a low-cost I-Plate to the NTE5 master socket found in the majority of UK homes, most customers gain. The benefits can include faster speeds, greater stability and even slight improvements in broadband performance over 'long lines'.

So supplying an I-Plate as part of your package for existing customers - or to attract new ones - could potentially stand you apart in the marketplace as well as leading to greater customer satisfaction and greater uptake of applications where line speed and stability are vital, such as TV and video streaming.

* Please note: The speed and quality of an end user's broadband service can be affected by a number of different factors including the distance from the exchange and other external factors which are outside BT's control. Whilst the I-Plate may help to improve the speed and quality of service in a large number of cases, BT cannot guarantee that it will improve the speed and quality of service in all cases.
